Math prerequisites are going away, get ready for AI tutors

Among other California community colleges, PCC has already begun to implement the removal of certain prerequisites required for various STEM courses. News Editor Zaynab Tall dives into what this could mean for the future of STEM students and the transfer process as well as the new AI tutor system, MathGPT.

Opinion

ASPCC is hosting a Harry Potter movie party, which Features Editor Fern Rojas criticized for being tone deaf and disrespectful to trans students on campus. With the LGBTQ community’s emotions already being tense after an openly transphobic campaign, celebrating a franchise created by a noted transphobe is not reading the room.

PCC student volunteers have been doing some digging and are currently in the process of planting California native plants on campus. Writer Joseph Lee writes about the ultimate goal of this project led by Environmental Sustainability and CORE clubs and PCC Grounds Supervisor, Daryl Montegomery.

Sports

Pasadena defeated Mt. San Antonio in a back and forth match that saw all 5 sets being played out this past Wednesday. It was an intense game for both schools, with the Lancers having a strong comeback in the third set with a score of 25-12. For the first time in three years, the Lancers were finally able to beat Mt. San Antonio.

Lifestyle

The HBCU caravan has been a tradition at PCC for 3 years now. On Tuesday October 29th PCC hosted their annual caravan event, HBCUish. Although a fairly new tradition, this event exposes Black students to different schools and opportunities across the country. Filled with music, food and dancing, it was definitely an event to remember.
