PCC’s new resolution seeks to protect student information from ICE

Hey Lancers!

This is News Editor Zaynab Tall here to give you the rundown of all that’s been happening on campus! Recently, PCC made a statement regarding the Trump Administration’s order for student information to be released to ICE, student artists showcased their themed art in the V Gallery, the Pride Center hosted a self-defense workshop teaching basic tactics against unwanted touch, and the Lancers left the competition in the dust at the Pasadena Invitational. News

The PCC Board of Trustees passed a resolution to protect students’ citizenship status and sexual identity from being released to ICE, unless legally obligated. Students and staff supported the resolution and voiced their concerns for its need in the first place.

Opinion

Assistant Opinion Editor Lily Regan condemns the Trump Administration for their royal screw up after the Editor-in-Chief of the Atlantic was accidentally invited to their war plans group chat. Regan highlights the issue of national security and the lack of accountability and transparency from those involved.

Features

PCC’s V Gallery held a new exhibition called “Genetically Modified” with several works from three student artists. The collection was filled with different art forms from uniquely shaped and colored ceramics to detailed graffiti. The artists involved also shared their creative processes.

Sports

PCC’s men and women’s track teams participated in the annual Pasadena Invitational and breezed through the competition. The Lancers placed high in a range of events including the 100-meter dash, the 4 x 100 relay, the 3000-meter dash, and many more.

Lifestyle

PCC hosted a self-defense workshop teaching attendees basic self-defense tactics based in Danzan-Ryu Jujutsu. I learned how to get out of various wrist grabs, how to avoid forced hugs, how to escape a hair pull, and how to break a choke.
